A Sunny Hills High School teacher accused of child molestation is expected to surrender to court officials Thursday, after he returns from vacation, police said Tuesday.

George M. Fairchild, 52, is expected to return from a Caribbean vacation and appear before a municipal court judge in Fullerton to face eight counts of felony child molestation, five misdemeanor counts of child molestation and two misdemeanor counts of sexual battery.

After his court appearance, Fairchild will be released if he can post $15,000 bail, said Lt. Jeff Roop. The district attorney filed charges against Fairchild last week.

Fairchild has been a teacher and athletic coach in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District for 28 years, school officials said.

Fullerton Police began their investigation into charges of sexual molestation in May after receiving a complaint from a girl that the science and math teacher had molested her in September. Police said their investigation is continuing and more charges may result.
