COUNTYWIDE FOCUS : Fund-Raising Dinner to Be Held for Wilson
Supporters of the reelection of Gov. Pete Wilson are planning a $100-a-plate fund-raising dinner Aug. 7 at the home of a Thousand Oaks supporter.
The Republican governor and his wife are scheduled to attend the 4 p.m. barbecue dinner, to be held in the Westlake home of mortgage company owner Klara Katersky. The governor is scheduled to talk during the two-hour event about issues facing the state, and will take questions from guests, organizers said.
In making a rare appearance in Ventura County, Wilson chose the political back yard of a longtime conservative critic, former state Assemblyman Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks).
McClintock, who has sharply criticized Wilson on tax and other economic issues, is frequently mentioned in conservative circles as a possible challenger to Wilson in next year’s Republican primary. He forfeited his Assembly seat last year in an unsuccessful bid for Congress.
