Police Conduct Search for 8-Year-Old Tarzana Girl
Police searched Saturday for an 8-year-old Tarzana girl who disappeared from her father’s apartment complex during a regular weekend visit, authorities said.
Nicole Parker was last seen by her father about 11:30 a.m. playing in the courtyard of Viewpoint Apartments, an 800-unit building in the 20500 block of Ventura Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Paul Sciarrillo.
The girl is described as thin, with dark eyes, dark hair and a dark tan. She is 3 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 45 pounds. She was wearing a white T-shirt, blue pants, black shoes, carrying a baseball glove and a softball.
Both of her parents attended a news conference to make an urgent plea for help. “We have a bad feeling about this because she’s only 8 years old and she was here one minute and gone the next,” Sciarrillo said.
The disappearance is also unusual because the Viewpoint Apartments is a gated complex with apparent good security.
Police conducted door-to-door interviews with residents and checked vehicles leaving the complex after 2:30 p.m., Sciarrillo said.
In addition to mobilizing a search from the West Valley station, the Citizens Emergency Mobil Patrol, a community volunteer rescue organization, joined in a search of the grounds for the child, Sciarrillo said.
