UC Irvine Upsets No. 25 Aggies
New Mexico State, which began the week ranked 25th in the nation, suffered its second defeat in three nights Saturday.
UC Irvine, the Big West’s last-place team, got 39 points from Chris Brown and hung on for a 95-87 victory, only the Anteaters’ second in the last 12 games.
Irvine (7-17 overall, 4-12 Big West) led by as many as 14 points in the second half, but it took a three-pointer, layup and free throw by Brown in the last 2 1/2 minutes to hold off the Aggies (19-5, 11-4).
