The Mean Streets Made Even Meaner by Writer
I wish to comment on a column by Robin Abcarian about jogging and telling off a motorist (“You Can’t Curb the Animal Within,” May 5).
It is disheartening to read that instead of trying to elevate people’s attitude, a writer would cater to the prevailing rudeness and vulgarity one hears everywhere.

Robin Abcarian’s foul-mouthed, transparently disguised, vulgarity-spewing loss of temper is surely not appropriate fare for the Sunday edition of a family newspaper.
Moreover, her glorified indulgence in lack of civility undermines her hand-wringing lamentations over the violence in our streets and around her Venice neighborhood.

Thank you, Robin Abcarian, for validation in print that I am not the only occasional closet lunatic walking these mean streets.
I don’t know how many times I, too, have spewed forth verbs and adjectives depicting acts and legacies of which I really have no personal knowledge.
