USAir Pilots Prepare an Offer: The union representing the pilots said it will offer the struggling carrier $750 million in wage concessions in return for part ownership. The cuts would be spread over five years, with the pilots contributing about a third of the $500 million in annual savings USAir is seeking from employees. The Air Line Pilots Assn. said its offer is contingent on a financial restructuring of USAir that would include the infusion of new operating funds. British Airways has halted new investments in the airline until it works out new deals with its employees.
