Brown to Unveil State Economic Plan

Gubernatorial candidate Kathleen Brown will unveil new economic proposals at an upcoming talk sponsored by the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., a spokeswoman for Brown said Monday.

In her speech titled “Building a New California,” Brown will discuss a comprehensive economic plan for the state. Details of the proposal will not be released until the event.

VICA, a nonprofit business organization with 370 corporate members and affiliates, representing more than 250,000 employees in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities, often invites political candidates to speak about issues that affect business in the area. In the past, VICA has hosted candidates such as President Clinton, Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan and Gov. Pete Wilson.

VICA was founded in 1949 to relay business concerns to elected officials and the public.

The event will be held at the Sportsmen’s Lodge, 12833 Ventura Blvd., in Studio City at 10 a.m. Sept. 1.
