GERMINATION: Courtney Love has teamed with part-time Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear for a track to be included on “Small Circle of Friends,” an upcoming tribute to Smear’s old L.A. punk band the Germs. Others so far on the album include the Posies, Mike Watt with J Mascis, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon with Free Kitten, the Puzzled Panthers (a teaming of Sonic’s Thurston Moore, Beastie Boy Mike D. and former Black Flag bassist Kira Watt), the Melvins and D Generation (who will be playing at KNAC’s Halloween party Saturday on the Queen Mary and at the Dragonfly on Nov. 1).*
