City Council meeting
When: Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Where: 11300 Stanford Ave.
What: Council will vote on a proposal to raise the salaries of police lieutenants and captains and certain management employees. If approved, lieutenants and captains would receive a 7% salary increase Jan. 14, and another 4% July 1. The increases, the first since 1991, are intended to correct some pay inequities, officials said. While members of the Police Officers Assn. have received salary increases during the past three years, lieutenants and captains have not. The council also will consider a proposed 2% salary hike for the assistant city manager, fire chief, police chief, public works director and other management employees.
