SIMI VALLEY : Man Charged With Father’s Slaying
A Simi Valley man suspected of beating his 53-year-old father to death with a baseball bat in Burbank last week has been charged with murder, authorities said Tuesday.
Joseph A. Hollis, a 23-year-old computer salesman, was arrested Friday, just minutes after Michael Hollis’ body was found by police inside his Burbank condominium.
Police say Hollis attacked his father sometime between Thursday night and Friday afternoon, but they are not sure why. Joseph Hollis reportedly talked about the crime to others, who eventually notified police.
“There’s no motive yet,” said Burbank Police Lt. Larry Koch. “We’re still investigating why it happened.”
Hollis, who was charged with murder Monday, is being held on $1-million bail in Burbank City Jail. An arraignment originally scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed until April 11.
