Microsemi Corp.: The Santa Ana semiconductor company reported profit of $1.3 million, or 17 cents a share, for the second fiscal quarter, up 71% from the $790,000, or 10 cents a share, recorded for the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter ended April 2 grew 6% to $32.4 million from $30.7 million. The second quarter of the prior year included revenue of $900,000 and a net loss of $285,000 from a business sold before the beginning of fiscal 1995.

Profit for the first half totaled $2.4 million, 85% higher than the $1.3 million for the first six months a year ago. Revenue rose 4% to $60.1 million from $57.6 million.
