THE O.J. SIMPSON MURDER TRIAL : Trial Highlights
Some of the key events Tuesday in the O.J. Simpson murder trial:
* SUMMARY: Jurors heard for the first time about blood evidence that prosecutors say links Simpson to the June 12 murders.
* WITNESSES: Gregory Matheson, a chief chemist and assistant laboratory director for the Los Angeles Police Department, spent the entire day on the stand. In addition to testifying about blood test results on a drop from the crime scene and on socks found in Simpson’s bedroom, Matheson rebutted a number of defense contentions about the handling of evidence in the case. Most significant were his response to defense allegations that some of Simpson’s blood sample is unaccounted for and his rejection of the defense contention that blood beneath Nicole Simpson’s fingernails came from someone other than the defendant or victims.
* COMING UP: Matheson returns to the witness stand today for more cross-examination by Simpson attorney Robert Blasier.
“I would say that there’s a very high likelihood that that’s the victim’s blood underneath the nails.”
