Countywide : Blood Pressure Study Participants Needed

Share

The Heart Disease Prevention Program at UC Irvine is seeking men and women over 60 to participate in a nationwide study on the treatment of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, the study will involve about 40,000 people--including 100 at UCI. Researchers are trying to determine whether newer blood pressure drugs are more effective in lowering heart attack risk than a diuretic medication.

Participants will be examined at UCI every one to four months over a period of five to seven years. All medications and medical procedures will be free.
