Authentic Fitness Posts Net of $5.97 Million in Quarter

Authentic Fitness Corp., a swimwear and fitness apparel company based in Van Nuys, said its earnings rose 41% during its third quarter ended April 1.

Authentic Fitness, which designs and markets swimsuits under such well-known labels as Speedo, Catalina and Cole of California, reported third-quarter net income of $5.97 million, up from $4.23 million a year earlier. Quarterly revenues rose 40% to $74.8 million from $53.3 million during the year-earlier period.

Linda Wachner, chief executive officer, attributed the company’s growth during the quarter to the popularity of its Speedo and designer swimwear brands, as well as strong sales in its 58 Speedo Authentic Fitness retail stores.
