In Defense of Dave

Share

Why does the L.A. Times hate David Letterman so much? It’s interesting that TV Times (April 23 and May 14) chose only to publish three very negative letters about Dave’s gig on the Academy Awards. It’s clear that the letter writers do not watch the “Late Show” and didn’t understand, much less appreciate, Letterman’s unique style.

Arrogant, rude? Say what? He was neither. What he was, was cute and funny; glamorous and hip. It was fun to wonder what he would say, or do, next. Everyone I know enjoyed it, and we hope he’ll do it next year, but I sure don’t blame him if he doesn’t.

People tend to forget who won which Oscar for what, but David Letterman will be around for a long time, whether the L.A. Times likes it or not.

P.S. I do, however, still think the L.A. Times is the best newspaper in the world!
