Boy, 7, Borrows a Car to Get to School on Time
His bike wasn’t up to speed, so a first-grader stole something with more horsepower to get him to school on time on the last day of class.
“I was at a stop sign when the guy with me said: ‘Hey, there’s a little kid driving that car,’ ” Police Chief Mike Sielicki said Thursday.
Sielicki then followed the 1989 Ford Escort for two blocks. The unidentified 7-year-old boy slammed on the brakes when he reached a busy intersection. He was removing the keys from the ignition when Sielicki walked up.
“He looked at me and said: ‘I was going to be late for school,’ ” Sielicki said. “We took him home and on the way he asked if he could drive the cruiser.”
