Former IRS Agent Can Testify for Fleiss Defense, Judge Rules
A federal judge ruled Monday that a former Internal Revenue Service agent can testify as an expert witness for the defense in the tax evasion and money-laundering trial of Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss.
U.S. Dist. Judge Consuelo Marshall ruled that Howard Emirhanian can be called today to attack testimony offered Friday by IRS Special Agent Liza Shovar.
Shovar testified that Fleiss received $160,000 in checks alone during 1992 but reported only $33,000 of that income to the IRS.
Fleiss, 29, faces federal charges of income tax evasion, money laundering and filing a false loan application. She has already been convicted on state pandering charges for running a call-girl ring that catered to Hollywood stars and executives.
