Agoura Hills will celebrate completion of another portion of a new city park Thursday.

A ribbon-cutting event will be held at 4 p.m. at the facility, located at Colodny Road and Driver Avenue.

The recently completed portion, consisting of a playground and barbecue area, cost $88,000, officials said, $68,000 of which came from park bond money. The remainder, they said, came from the city’s general fund.

The 10-acre Old Agoura Park replaces a smaller park nearby. The new facility’s centerpiece is an equestrian center that links up with an equestrian trail.

The entire project is expected to cost $1.5 million, city officials said. Some $600,000 of the money came from a Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy grant.

The city hopes to add a third equestrian ring to the park, as well as a recreation building and a basketball court. Those projects will be undertaken as funds become available, officials said.
