Panel Aiding in Schools Chief Search Sets Public Meetings
The committee formed to advise the Los Angeles Board of Education on its selection of a superintendent to replace Sid Thompson, who is retiring, has scheduled a series of public hearings to solicit input from parents and community members.
The board-appointed committee has been asked to recommend criteria for choosing a superintendent and help the board decide whether to conduct a national search for a candidate. Recommendations will go to the board next month.
The four hearings, all scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., will be held:
* Today at Monroe High School, 9229 Haskell Ave., North Hills.
* Wednesday at Dorsey High School, 3537 Farmdale Ave., Los Angeles.
* Thursday at Roosevelt High School, 456 S. Mathews St., Los Angeles.
* Tuesday, July 2, at Gardena High School, 1301 W. 182nd St., Gardena.
