From Times Wire Reports

At least two police officers were injured and 80 people were arrested after 2,000 revelers at festivities rioted in the center of Quebec City. The two officers were injured as they fought with young people who trashed cars and broke windows in shops, hotels and the French-speaking province’s legislature. The rioting erupted late Sunday during celebrations on the eve of Quebec’s St. Jean Baptiste Day. Police said the trouble began after an outdoor concert. As the crowd dispersed, several hundred people went to the city’s stone-walled old quarter and began breaking shop and hotel windows.
