Smith Micro Software Inc.: The Aliso Viejo provider of communication software for personal computers said net income for the second quarter increased 30% to $1.1 million, or 8 cents a share, from $857,000, or 7 cents a share, for the same period of 1995. Revenue increased 33% to $6 million from $4.5 million. For the first six months, the company posted a loss of $2.5 million, or 18 cents a share, which included a one-time charge of $5.2 million from acquired research and development. The company earned $1.5 million, or 12 cents a share, for the first half a year ago. Revenue increased 66% to $13.3 million from $8 million. Smith Micro completed its initial public offering in September 1995.
