A Byte of Black History

TIMES STAFF WRITER

In connection with Black History Month, the Encyclopedia Britannica has created a World Wide Web site that features an array of material on black history in America.

The site, at https://blackhistory.eb.com, offers timelines, biographies, photographs, film clips and audio recordings. It traces contributions of black Americans from 1916 through the present day. The site is divided into five historical components, each with information on the significant historical developments and figures of various time periods.

Some of the video and sound clips include Malcolm X on the civil rights movement, Gwendolyn Brooks reading poetry and baseball great Hank Aaron addressing Congress.
