Schaumburg, Ill.-based Motorola Inc. was the most popular stock among America’s investment clubs in 1996, replacing McDonald’s Corp., which held the top spot for the last six years. In addition to Motorola, other high-technology stocks in the top 10 were Intel Corp. (No. 5), Lucent Technologies Inc. (No. 8), RPM Inc. (No. 9) and AT&T; Corp. (No. 10).
