Interpore Chief Takes Post as Chairman

* David C. Mercer, president and chief executive of Interpore International in Irvine, has been named to the additional post of chairman. He succeeds George W. Smyth Jr., who remains a board member.

* Garry D. Rooney has been appointed divisional vice president of 76 Lubricants Co. in Costa Mesa, a division of Tosco Corp. He was previously general manager of lubricant sales.

* Katie Ward has been named district manager at Merit Property Management Inc. in Mission Viejo. She joined the company two years ago as an account executive.

* Charles Gamer has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing for Dense-Pac Microsystems Inc., a Garden Grove manufacturer of computer chip stacking technology. His experience includes serving as international marketing manager at Digital Equipment Corp., director of computer sales at Sanyo Business Systems and eastern director of sales at Compaq. In addition, Gene Phelps has been named vice president of operations and Jack Forthun, to the newly created position of vice president of design and development.

* Dennis H. O’Hara has been named area president of the Irvine office of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Inc., an insurance broker. He was previously area executive vice president in the Los Angeles office.

* Tim Smith has been appointed chief executive of Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center in Fountain Valley. He succeeds Richard E. Butler, who is now chief executive of United Western Medical Centers. Smith, currently chief executive of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, will oversee both hospitals.

* Thom Stimpel has joined American IC Exchange, an Aliso Viejo clearinghouse for integrated circuits, in the newly created position of director of operations. Stimpel was with Digital Equipment Corp. for 15 years, most recently as competency manager for systems integration in the Americas.

* Dave Desper has been named vice president of CB Commercial. Desper, who works in the Newport Beach office, had been senior associate. He’s been with the company for more than six years.

* Joan Mayeaux has been appointed vice president of operations administration for Marine National Bank in Irvine. She joined the bank from Harbor Bank, where she had been a vice president and assistant operations director. Mayeaux was also with Security Pacific Bank for eight years.

* Van Hester has joined Lyle Parks Jr. Inc. in Anaheim as project manager. He will supervise the GameWorks project at Ontario Mills.

* Claire Walker has been named vice president of clinical affairs and corporate officer for CardioVascular Dynamics Inc. in Irvine. She had been director of clinical affairs. Walker began as a clinical marketing consultant for the company in 1992 and has served as director of clinical affairs since 1994.

* Jay Carroll has been appointed vice president of logistics for Toyo Tires in Cypress. He joined the company in 1995 as director of logistics.

* Tony Wong has joined Printrak International, an Anaheim supplier of automated fingerprint identification systems, as director of worldwide customer support. He held marketing and customer support senior management positions with Apple Computer, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett Packard.

* Dennis Cavallari has joined Lincoln Property Co. Inc. as vice president and partner in charge of development for the Southern California and Las Vegas areas. He will be based in the Irvine office. Cavallari was a partner in charge of development of JPI, an apartment community developer. Don Henry has been named development manager for the Southern California residential development division. He joined the company from Sasaki Associates Inc., an architecture and planning firm.

* Jay Klein has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of sales for NetSoft, an Irvine developer of computer connectivity products. He had been vice president of North American sales and regional vice president of sales for NEC Technologies in Mountain View. Also, Terry Mullin has joined the company as vice president of business development. He was strategic planner for FileNet Corp. in Costa Mesa. Mullin also served as vice president for Aztech Electric Co. in Irvine, and vice president for Specialty Insurance Co. in Orange.

* Carl B. Natalizia has joined CBC Group Inc., an Irvine equipment finance company, as vice president. He had been vice president of Metlife Capital Corp.
