AM I BLUE?

You’ve just had a big bowl of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia or Phish Food ice cream, and you’re looking for something to wash it down. How ‘bout a bottle of Motley Brue?

The latest customized comestible honoring a rock act is a nonalcoholic beverage tie-in with the L.A. metal band Motley Crue, which is set to release a new album, “Generation Swine,” on June 24.

The concoction comes from the Pasadena company Eat Me Now, best known as the maker of such “alternative” sodas as Brain Wash, Black Lemonade and Love Potion #69. All are nonalcoholic, but provide a kick with various combinations of herbal ingredients (the Brue features jalapen~o, ginseng, mad dog weed and skullcap). And all sport unusual colors (the blue Brue will stain your mouth indigo).

“We always saw these drinks around by this company and said, ‘Man, we ought to have our own brew,” says Crue bassist Nikki Sixx, who spearheaded the drink’s development. “You get a full buzz on this stuff, makes you feel good and it’s all legal.”

The company, which started nearly four years ago and projects 1997 sales of $12 million via coffeehouses and small stores, did custom beverages for the movies “The Crow” and “From Dusk to Dawn.” But the idea of doing one for a band appealed to the three owners, who are known as Skeleteena, Joe Bones and Bone Jones. All are also writers and musicians.

“We wanted the [band members] to get involved,” says Skeleteena. “This was going to be their liquid. So we met them in their studio and hashed things out and eventually we all started spraying soda all over. This drink is especially for people who are done with the whole drugs and alcohol thing, but still want to have fun.”
