Spotlight: Anaheim-Santa Ana No. 3 in Hotel Price Hikes
More business from vacationers and conventioneers prompted Anaheim-Santa Ana-area hotel operators to push through some of the biggest rate hikes in the nation, a study says. Daily room rates surged 12.7% to $79.68 in the first quarter of 1997 from the same period last year, making the area No. 3 in the U.S. in rate increases. San Francisco topped the list, posting a 14.3% hike, followed by New Orleans, where prices surged 13.5%, according to Coopers & Lybrand’s Lodging Research Network.
