FileNet Records 4% Net Loss for 2nd Quarter

FileNet Corp. posted a net loss in the second quarter as revenue declined.

The document management company said Wednesday that it lost $3.9 million, or 25 cents a share, which included restructuring and other after-tax charges of $4.3 million to consolidate engineering and marketing functions in Burlington, Mass.

For the 1996 second quarter, the company earned $2.5 million, or 15 cents a share. Revenue declined 4% to $62.5 million from $65 million. For the first half, the company had a net loss of $13.3 million, or 88 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $9.3 million, or 62 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue was down 16% to $110 million from $131.7 million.
