A 4-year-old boy who was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while trick-or-treating Friday night is expected to recover and be released from the hospital in a few days, officials said Sunday.

The boy, whose name was not released, was walking with his father in the 8500 block of Columbus Avenue when he darted into traffic and was hit by a red Nissan. He was airlifted to Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles and initially was listed in serious condition.

Steve Rutledge, a hospital spokesman, said the boy is now in fair condition after receiving treatment for minor abrasions and a mild concussion.

Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident.

That hit-and-run followed a similar case on Oct. 23 in which a 9-year-old boy was hit while on his way to school in Sherman Oaks. Police are looking for a woman who was driving a silver 1990s BMW. In that case, the boy suffered a fractured left femur.
