57 Killed, Thousands Displaced by Floods
From Times Wire Reports
Floods caused by overflowing rivers in the eastern part of the country left 57 people dead and more than 4,000 displaced, state-run radio reported. The rising rivers also washed away 9,000 head of livestock in the Ogaden region on the border with Somalia, authorities said. The radio quoted health officials as saying malaria and dysentery had reappeared in areas hit by flooding. Severe flooding has also hit southern Somalia, southern Sudan and coastal Kenya.
