Man Executed for Murdering Cousin

A man was executed by injection in Huntsville, Texas, for abducting his 9-year-old cousin and beating and strangling her during a drinking binge. Aua Lauti, 43, was condemned for the Dec. 19, 1985, attack that left his cousin, Tara Lauti, dead. According to testimony, Tara was sleeping in the house where Aua Lauti had passed out. He woke up, grabbed the young girl and knocked her unconscious. He then drove her to a nearby field, where her body was found.
