Man Is Executed for ’89 Robbery-Murder

A twice-convicted burglar who beat, raped and suffocated a 68-year-old woman during a robbery was executed by injection in Huntsville. Before the drugs were administered, 30-year-old Aaron Lee Fuller smiled, laughed and prayed as he acknowledged his guilt in the March 1989 murder of Loretta Stephens. “I want the victim’s family to know I’m guilty of what I have been convicted. I pray they will forgive me,” he said. “Praise God, I’m going home.” Fuller told police he decided to break into the woman’s home when he saw her asleep in a recliner in her living room because he believed she had money. After finding about $500 in cash in the bedroom, he stuffed her body in the trunk of her car, then drove off, dumping the body along a road.
