Take Chance on Murray

Share

I was sorry to read of the poor reception of the movie “The Man Who Knew Too Little” (“Are These Guys Still Funny?,” Nov. 17, and Saturday Letters, Nov. 22).

After an afternoon of unsettling medical testing at a local hospital, I wanted to unwind with a movie and went to a local multiplex, not knowing what to see. I saw the poster for “The Man Who Knew Too Little” and the PG rating and took a chance, and I am very glad I did, although I had never seen a movie with Bill Murray.

The movie was creative and funny and reminded me of the old “Get Smart” and “Wild, Wild West” series, with a bit of Bob Hope-type comedies thrown in--unbelievable situations, but imaginatively and energetically executed. It had a complex story, with a wit and intelligent satire not found in current comedies.

Perhaps people have been so burned by awful movies purported to be comedies they are afraid to take a chance. I would highly recommend this movie.
