A 19-year-old Oxnard man was jailed on suspicion of multiple felonies Saturday after he and another man in a stolen car led police on a chase and fired several shots from a stolen revolver, authorities said. No one was injured.

Valentin Guzman remained in custody Saturday in lieu of $50,000 bail, officers said. He was being held on suspicion of possessing a stolen gun and vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, burglary and accessory to escape.

The arrest occurred about 4:15 a.m., when officers heard gunshots in an alley at Colonia Road and Juanita Avenue in Oxnard and then spotted the stolen car with two men inside. A brief chase ensued before the men abandoned the vehicle and ran, officers said.

Guzman, who was the passenger, was arrested, and a stolen .44-magnum revolver was recovered. Shell casings matching bullets fired from the weapon were found in the stolen car, officers said.

The driver eluded arrest.

The car was one of three vehicles that were stolen from Bob’s Used Cars on Oxnard Boulevard. The gun had been reported stolen from an Oxnard home.
