Man Arrested After Standoff
A Costa Mesa man was taken into custody Sunday morning after barricading himself in his brother’s apartment in what police are calling a family dispute.
John Michael Culbertson, 36, lured his brother, Keith, 33, out of his apartment on Costa Mesa Street early Sunday, police said.
When Keith Culbertson was outside, John Culbertson forced his way into the home and pushed out his brother’s housemate, Donita Hunter, 29, police said.
The suspect was trying to retrieve paperwork in a family financial dispute, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Allen Huggins said.
When the suspect would not come out, the SWAT team was called and surrounded the home until he surrendered at 7 a.m., Huggins said.
