Mother Enters Plea in Home Blood Clinic

Share

A 28-year-old mother pleaded not guilty to four charges of child endangerment after police found her children playing barefoot among discarded dirty syringes and vials of blood in her Long Beach home.

Municipal Judge Bradford Andrews set bail for Kosal Nang at $200,000, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Debra Montoya.

Police arrested Nang last week when they discovered she was running an allegedly illegal blood clinic from her home, offering teenagers and youngsters $30 to draw their blood, a Long Beach police spokeswoman said.

Officers found her four children--ranging in age from 7 to 11--playing in a bedroom strewn with dirty needles and sealed vials of blood on the floor and the bed, she said. Investigators said they have little evidence but believe Nang may have wanted the blood as part of a scheme to defraud Medi-Cal.
