Snowboard Assn. Backs Helmet Use

Share

In “Most Skiers Cool to Idea of Helmets” (Jan. 5), Dr. Susan Ryan of the Denver Center for Sports Medicine stated, “I think it would be appropriate for some organization to take the initiative and say we need to protect people.”

I am pleased to tell Dr. Ryan and all concerned that the U.S. Amateur Snowboard Assn. Southern California Conference has done just that.

Protective headgear has been required at our alpine events for the past three years. This year the helmet requirement encompasses any competitive event we hold.
