Troops Search for Kidnappers in Jungle

President Alvaro Arzu vowed to track down a heavily armed gang that briefly kidnapped a family of U.S. evangelicals, as troops scoured thick jungle in search of the culprits. The six-hour ordeal ended Monday in a commando raid when a military patrol stumbled on the captors, who fled. Officials said the kidnapping did not appear to be a political crime, and the family said it will remain in the country.
