Regarding “Locking Into a Security System for the Road” (Her World, June 14): I recently took a trip to Hungary with a friend. We took along a European cell phone that I rented in Newport Beach from Eurocell Telecom (1-877-EUROCELL). We found it to be the most useful piece of gear we had. (European cell phones use different frequencies than U.S. cell phones.)

One time, we found ourselves in a small village not knowing if we could get a bus back to our hotel and not speaking the language very well. We used our cell phone, called the hotel, got all the bus information we needed and were able to make arrangements to be picked up.

For about $8 a day, I never had to worry about finding a phone booth, waiting in line, phone cards or being lost. Furthermore, my husband and children in the U.S. also had greater peace of mind (and some fun too), as they could always reach me.
