My Favorite Weekend

Share

Vacationing at Home: I was supposed to go to Santa Fe one weekend and it fell through. Instead, I ended up doing a weekend in L.A. I stayed at the Ritz- Carlton Huntington Hotel, which is elegant and plush. I really treated myself! I had a masseuse come in the morning and went to see a production at the Pasadena Playhouse that night. It was wonderful to just enjoy the hotel and not worry about having to be on the road. There are a lot of shops within walking distance of the Huntington, too.

Training Wheels: I trained for the AIDS Ride last year, and I haven’t been on a bike since. But what has stuck is Spinning. My workout regimen consists of Spinning classes and a weight training program.

Favorite Workout Spots: I’ve been going to Gold’s Gym in Hollywood for a long time. But I also love Malibu Fitness. It’s a wonderful little gym in a beautiful setting with a great group of people--mostly women. We have fun. A lot of celebs go there, too. You just never know who will be coming in.

A Special Occasion: I enjoy cooking at home. When I go out for dinner, I have to psych up for it, prepare for the worst and hope for the best as far as people interrupting me. For special occasions, like my mom’s birthday, I love Granita. Their dinners are incredible.

At-Home Entertaining: I like to barbecue because it’s so easy. If I really want to treat my guests, I’ll do the Greek thing and make moussaka and other dishes. I have yet to find a really good Greek restaurant. Different regions cook different things though. I like things that are not too oily.

Surf Side: Geoffrey’s in Malibu is one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever been to. I love going there at the end of the day to watch the sunset and have hors d’oeuvres.

Alone Time: I don’t hang out at the beach that much. If I do, it’s to exercise my dog. I like going to the marina, though. I’ll get some takeout, find a grassy area and have a quiet lunch.
