Wait for Halloween? Not Deep Eynde

Share

It may not be Halloween yet, but things are getting spooky. Gothic poetry was stirred up at Coven 13 on Sunday, when the theatrical and dark cabaret quartet the Deep Eynde performed at the El Rey Theatre. The L.A. group decorated the Wilshire Boulevard club to look like a cathedral, with illuminated stained glass windows and garlands of white roses lining the aisle to the altar, er, stage. The group’s frontman and creative force, Fate Fatal, was dressed as a demon with wings. Those who missed out simply missed out, but more devilish fun is in store at Coven 13 and Fetish Ball’s second annual Halloween Masquerade Ball, which is scheduled for Halloween night at the Variety Arts Center in downtown Los Angeles. London After Midnight, L.A.’s premiere gothic band, rarely performs live (though the band did open for the Cure in Europe recently) but is planning a pyrotechnic extravaganza. . . . Jakob Dylan was among those who crashed P.J. Harvey’s unannounced 90-minute performance Tuesday at the Viper Room, which we hear captivated the capacity crowd.
