Asian Boyz Gang Member Gets Life Terms in Murders
A member of the notorious Asian Boyz street gang was sentenced to several life terms Monday for a series of fatal shootings that he committed when he was 16.
Superior Court Judge Darlene Schempp sentenced Kimorn Nuth, 20, to three life terms without the possibility of parole, plus 120 years to life in prison for five murders, two attempted murders and conspiring to commit murder.
Last month, a jury convicted Nuth and six other members of the gang for their roles in a 1995 crime rampage that left six people dead. The jury could not reach a unanimous decision on one fatal shooting that authorities attribute to the gang.
In the ensuing weeks, Schempp sentenced two defendants to more than 100 years in prison. They were not eligible for the death penalty because they were each convicted of only one murder. Nuth was not eligible for the death penalty because he was under 18 at the time of the crimes.
The jury is currently deliberating on whether the four remaining defendants deserve to die for their crimes.
