Sheriff’s Resource Center Set to Open

Share

A Saticoy-based resource center operated by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department will officially open Sept. 1.

Sheriff Bob Brooks will preside over a noontime ribbon-cutting ceremony at the center at 1203 Los Angeles Ave.

The site is a registered historical landmark built in 1910. Over the years, the building has housed a gun shop, clothing store and bank. The Sheriff’s Department recently completed a major renovation to restore the structure, which had fallen into disrepair.

Deputies working in the Saticoy area will use the center as a satellite office to do paperwork or interview victims as needed.

In addition, the center will offer referral services to the community and serve as a site for adult education classes. Staffed by volunteers, the center will have computer stations available to local children for homework and computer training.

The Saticoy Boys & Girls Club also plans to use the center.
