The City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday on the 1999-2000 budget during its regularly scheduled meeting. Council members are expected to approve the $126.8-million budget, which includes many new or expanded programs and services, such as increasing police and fire personnel.

Among the key points: The operating budget for the General Fund ($57.8 million) is balanced with no tax increases. Additionally, General Fund revenue is expected to increase by 3.1%, largely because of sales tax generated by new projects such as the Block, Town and Country, and Ford of Orange. Also, the city’s ongoing capital improvement program will have more than $20 million in projects slated for the upcoming fiscal year.

The council meets at 4:30 p.m. in chambers, 300 E. Chapman Ave.
