Fire Guts Office of Golkar Party
From Times Wire Reports
Fire raged through an office of Indonesia’s ruling Golkar party in the restive province of Aceh, and election officials suggested there may be a delay in the June 7 elections there because of growing violence. Golkar’s office in Lhokseumawe, about 1,000 miles northwest of Jakarta, was gutted by the early morning fire, witnesses said. The blaze was out by dawn, and there were no reports of casualties. A local journalist said he saw an empty oil container near the site. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
