Soil Cave-In Kills Boy, 11

GULF BREEZE, Fla. —
An 11-year-old boy suffocated when a hole he was digging in sandy soil behind his home collapsed on him. Rescuers pulled Kevin Schartel out, but he was pronounced dead at a Pensacola hospital after the cave-in Tuesday, said Jim Lyle, a Santa Rosa County sheriff’s spokesman.
