The 21-year-old grandson of a state senator will go on trial Oct. 12 on charges of engaging in sex with two female minors.

Pomona Superior Court Judge Charles Horan set the trial date Monday and combined two criminal cases against Michael E. Mountjoy.

Mountjoy, the grandson of state Sen. Richard Mountjoy (R-Arcadia), has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held on $500,000 bail.

Mountjoy initially was charged in March with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, oral copulation with a minor and possession of an assault weapon.

The accusations stemmed from a case involving a 15-year-old San Gabriel Valley girl he met last December through an online chat room.

He was put under house arrest but was taken into custody again June 21 and charged with an additional two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a second minor, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Kim Santini.

Mountjoy is alleged to have committed the acts last December in his car at the girl’s house in Walnut and June 16 at his home in Arcadia. Santini said the girl was 16.
