LAGUNA HILLS
A 50,000-year-old mammoth tusk discovered in the city is now on display at City Hall.
The curved tusk belonged to a mammoth that stood at least 15 feet tall at the shoulder, said Kim Monach, community services director. The artifact was found near the edge of the city on Oso Parkway in 1987 and will be displayed in the lobby of the city’s new community recreation center when it opens next year.
