One motorist died, another was critically injured and two more were hurt in a fiery, head-on, two-car crash on Monday near Griffith Park, authorities said.

The accident on a Golden State Freeway offramp near the 4500 block of Colorado Street occurred at about 5 p.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Vince Bell.

A westbound Camaro for unknown reasons crossed a raised center divider, striking an eastbound pickup head-on, Bell said.

A passenger in the Camaro, which was fully engulfed in flames, was killed instantly, he said.

The critically injured patient was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, he said.

It was not immediately known where the two patients with non-life-threatening injuries were taken, he said.

“A CPR instructor who saw the accident helped get the driver and passenger out of the Camaro and then administered CPR on the man who died,” Bell said.

The names of the victims had not been released.
