Christine Corti; Owner of Italian Deli in Ventura
Christine Corti, owner of Corti Sisters Italian Deli in Ventura, died Friday of injuries suffered in a traffic accident in Ventura. She was 51.
Corti was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Ventura and grew up in Sacramento, where her parents ran the famed Corti Bros. Grocery.
She also attended schools in Sacramento.
She moved to Ventura about 10 years ago and later opened the Corti Sisters Italian Deli with her sister, Jodeen Frank.
Corti was a caring mother who loved working at the deli, said her son, Steven Upton of Ventura.
In addition to her sister and son, Corti is survived by her daughter, Jennifer J. Vargas of Ventura; parents Gino and Angela Corti of Sacramento; her brother, Jack, of Sacramento; and many other relatives in California, Texas and Arkansas.
A funeral Mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sacramento with Father Arnold Ortiz officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held in Ventura at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Mass intentions in her name to Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
