Official to Stand Trial on Sex Charges
Israel’s attorney general recommended that Transportation Minister Yitzhak Mordechai stand trial for having allegedly sexually assaulted three women during the past eight years. Leor Horev, the minister’s advisor, said Mordechai plans to resign Sunday. Mordechai will remain in parliament but will waive his immunity and stand trial. Mordechai, a former defense minister and a highly decorated army officer, has denied any wrongdoing. The initial allegation came from a 23-year-old employee who complained to police that Mordechai groped her in February.
